Getting Started
  • What is Comet Cadets?
Comet Cadets offers a conflict resolution framework for 5-10 year olds and adults. Our program is currently used in elementary schools, hospitals, and homes to support the emotional intelligence, mental health, and social-emotional learning skills for every Cadet and Captain who joins. While Comet Cadets is designed for 5-10 year olds, anyone can join! Comet stands for Communication and Emotion Training. 💫 When people in your home, classroom, or club join the Comet Cadets, you take on the role of Cadets. Together, we embark on missions that build up real-life communication and emotion skills, including such concepts as positive self talk, identifying and regulating emotions, inviting others to play, playing fairly, and problem solving. These are the skills we use for successful conflict resolution. Teachers and grown-ups can use Comet Cadets content to role play with their Cadets through the use of interactive video lessons (with guided learning questions), music, and learning activities. Our core content is designed to help young learners understand that everyone, even grown-ups, use these social and emotional skills in school, at home, and beyond. By presenting social-emotional skills in settings that typically aren’t found in major SEL curricula, we bridge the gap between education and real-life by encouraging Cadets to apply these skills in their own lives. Comet Cadets is a great standalone conflict resolution program for your classroom and home, though we also love it as a supplementary resource to the SEL program you might already be using (e.g. Second Step, Responsive Classroom, RULER, Kelso's Choice, and more). Comet Cadets offers a unique set of stories, activities, and role-playing that will be new to your students and avoids overlapping materials with other major conflict resolution, peer mediation, or SEL programs.
