Navigate the Space Station

Air Lock
Focus on your breathing to relax your body
Every Space Station needs an Air Lock because every Cadet needs to breathe when they go to Space! The Air Lock is where you can go if you feel stressed or your energy is too high. You can relax here with different breathing techniques! Did you know that when your body is stressed, your brain reacts by making your heart beat faster? If you take some time to focus on your breathing, you can make your heart beat slower and return to normal. Once your heart rate is lower, the rest of your body will feel calmer, too!

Research Lab
Use your 5 senses to slow down and relax
Cadets pay attention to the facts and details around them. And focusing your attention by using your 5 senses can actually calm down your body and mind. And this is why we’ve got a Research Lab. This is where you can go when you’ve got high energy or feel stressed. If your body feels jittery, your heart beats faster, you start to feel a little warm… those are signs that it’s time to relax at the Research Lab. When you use your 5 senses, your body will calm down and reground you to the world around you.

Recreation Deck
Get creative and help your brain focus
Come hang at The Recreation Deck! We’ve got music, books, art, all sorts of activities for when your brain feels a bit frazzled, or you’re having a tough time focusing. When you notice those feelings, you might need a little break to reconnect your brain to your body. The tools in the Recreation Deck connect both sides of your brain, which helps you concentrate! Activating your brain is one way to focus yourself and feel ready for what’s next!

Gymnasium
Move around to use up your energy and reset
The Gymnasium on our Space Station is like any gym you visit. We are here to move. If you’re full of energy, or running on empty, or feel too much stress, movement is an effective way to calm down your body or uplift your brain! Moving your body helps your brain make something called endorphins. Endorphins can lift your mood into the green or yellow zone.

Control Center
Use positive self-talk to boost your brain
Our Control Center is for taking control of the way we think. If you’re feeling low or notice an inner voice saying unkind things to yourself, it might be time to visit your Control Center for some positive self-talk! Using positive self-talk helps retrain your brain to be kind to yourself. This helps you build up a new way to think and can boost your confidence!
